October 7 - October 13, 2012

So usually I write from our family, but today is just from me and to my wonderful husband.  A year ago this week, I married my best friend.  On October 11th, I didn't realize at the time what an amazing gift I was getting, but I sure have gotten a glimpse over the past year of what a lifetime of pure happiness and bliss really is.  It is hard to imagine what life was like before him or what life would be like without him.  He knows my emotions inside and out and can finish my sentences before I do.  Growing up, I never thought I would find someone as special as him, but I know I am blessed each and every day for the sheer coincidences that put us together.  My hope is that everyone finds someone to love and that loves them back as my husband does for me.  I often find myself sitting and wondering how did I get so lucky?  How did I end up with someone who vacuums the house without ever having to be asked?  Who washes and puts the dishes away just because I was tired?  Who goes out and buys things for me that I don't have time to?  Who makes me dinner because I am too busy with homework?  Who carries me to bed because I fell asleep on the couch?  Who takes me across the country to New York City, and lets me see the world?  Who loves me unconditionally, even when I am grumpy and emotional?  And then I often find myself wondering if I do the same for him?  He never asks for a 'Thank You' and always puts my needs first, and often times I think.... if there was a book about perfect husbands, they should write it about Jordon.  They say the first year is the hardest, well we both hope that life only gets better then.  I woke up early on our Anniversary to leave a little gift out for Jordon, it was a watch.  I was in the bathroom getting ready when Jordon came around the corner with a little gift and smiled.  I looked over, and it was a watch for me as well.  My heart was so filled with joy as my watch was stolen earlier this year at work.  I was devastated, as Jordon had bought me that watch as well.  We both had no idea what each other was getting the other. What we learned is that although we didn't get each other the traditional gift of paper;  we have learned to think alike over the past year.  Jordon took me to dinner up at Sundance, which was absolutely amazing as always.  We walked around for a while up there, and reminisced about what we were doing the previous year.  It was funny because we ended up leaving around 8 pm, which is the same time we left from our wedding the previous year.  Then we came home and had our cake, which was more delicious than I remember it tasting the first time.  I couldn't believe that it lasted a year, but Rebecca sure knows the secret to storing cakes!  Our day was much quieter this year than last, but our love is so much stronger, and I wouldn't trade that for another wedding day!  I was a little sad that I couldn't fit in my dress, but I know that baby boy is big, and I will fit in it again someday soon.  He is now 33 weeks along, and as big as durian (which I am not sure what that is).  Jordon went and got him a mattress this week, so he has a place to sleep.  See what I mean about him doing nice things just because.  The weather has been so nice this week that we turned the heater on, and then turned it off again.  Jordon even said that he wished it was this warm on our wedding day last year.  We finally got some pumpkins for our front porch, so I can show off to my neighbors my husband's amazing carving skills, and I can't wait!  I never take for granted the days that I get to spend with my husband, but over the next year I hope to say "thank you" and " I love you"  a few more times.  My life is more enriched every day and I am a better person because of him.  I never thought that I could love him more than the day we got married... not true.  I love him more each and every day of our lives.  He is my best friend...and forever My Love.

Xoxo, Britt

September 30 - October 6, 2012

Well, we are at week 32 and baby is as big as a squash, which only makes sense for the lovely fall weather.  I think that I am pretty hilarious, as I ate squash on Sunday with the Petersen's after a lovely fast Sunday at church.  I also was able to do some water coloring with Reece, who is quite the artist! She told me that she is going to be a princess for Halloween, and I told her that I was going to be a big fat pumpkin!  Other big baby news is that I went to see Dr. Thackeray again this week.  He measured me and said that everything is going great.  It has been the only appointment that Jordon has missed, and it kinda made me sad to be there alone.  He has been such a supporter over all of this pregnancy and I really appreciate it.  I was also able to put a coat of stain on the baby's dresser, which is looking nice.  We keep getting little baby gifts from all of our family and friends and we sure appreciate each and every one of them.  We also had our last baby class this week, and I think both Jordon and I are grateful to be finished as some of those people are sure weird.  But, the information is nice to know as we feel much more prepared to have a baby now.  After the baby class Jordon looked at me and said, boy our lives have changed in a year.  Little did we know that a year ago we would be having a baby now!  I can't believe how far we have come in a year myself.  Work has been pretty boring, but I am just counting down the weeks until I can take maternity leave.  I had my nurse residency class again this week, which is quite horrible if you ask me.  I think if you have critical thinking skills that they should let you off from having to take that class.  I told Jordon that I am just going to shut my mouth and get through a few more weeks of it.   Jordon said that work was pretty slow as well, but he did get to have some fun on his days off.  He has been working on finishing the frame for his skull painting as well as carving a few more pumpkins.  Reece said that she wanted a pumpkin that said her name, so Jordon had her write her name on the pumpkin, and he carved it.  Then he showed it to her and said, "now what does that say?"  She replied, "R-E-E-C-E... it says PUMPKIN!".  We all just laughed.  Other big news is that Sable came home from Iceland, Scotland, and England this week.  She is sure a traveler, and while we haven't had the chance to talk with her yet, we did get to see a few pictures, which look amazing!  Other than work, it is October, so I put up our Halloween decorations, and made a new banner for our mantle.  It didn't take me long at all, and after finding double sided iron on adhesive at Joann's, I have many more crafts in mind.  The letters aren't made out of fabric, they're paper... which was cause for a fire, but I tried it anyways figuring that I live with a firefighter.  That painting is a husband original. He made it for especially for me. Saturday I watched General Conference while Jordon was at work as well as went to Xpedx with Rebecca.  We sure love those little bags that they have.  Good thing we can buy them in bulk!  Saturday evening was my friend Melissa's wedding.  She sure looked lovely, and I liked the fact that the wedding venue was close to our house, so I got home pretty quick after the affair.  Our little family wishes Dan and Melissa many years of happiness! Speaking of our little family, our little bunny is picking up on her name as 'Bunny'.  She keeps going in the closet in the office, which is the current home of my wedding dress, so needless to say, I don't want her in there.  Now when I say, "Bunny", she quickly hops out of the closet and comes to me.  Either she is scared of me, or she is learning her name.  Either way, I am glad to see her out of my dress!  The weather has gotten mighty cold this week, and before we know it we will probably have snow.  Guess that's what we get for living in the mountains, even if we love our little house.

September 23 - 29 , 2012

So, it is officially my absolute favorite time of the year, as we celebrated the first day of fall.  I love the smells, pumpkins, the leaves, the crisp air, hooded jackets, hot apple cider, Halloween, mittens, and everything about the fall.  Sometimes I wish it could be fall all year through, but then I don't think I would enjoy it as much every year when it comes around. The leaves have been changing for a while up at our house.  Now that it is officially fall, the leaves are sure vibrant as ever.  I love our house, our view, and my darling husband for making it all happen.   Along with the fall has come a few new critters.  First, the turkeys are back!  Just in time for Thanksgiving!  I don't want to eat one of them, but they are pretty funny to watch.  Then, we have a lot of Elk and Deer.  Not a day goes by that I don't see a deer, but the elk are new.  Last, Jordon and I have heard a lot of coyotes.  We have yet to see one, but I am pretty sure that is because the time of the day that they are around.  Either way, it sure is fun to live in the mountains.  This week we had a game at our baby class, and while Jordon wasn't able to make it, they played mothers against fathers.  The mothers won, but they said it was only because we had more people.  Next week will be our last class, which means that we are getting close to baby boy coming.  We are now 31 weeks along, and baby is as big as a pineapple.  I bought a pineapple, and couldn't believe that baby is that big!  Also other good baby news is that I turned this little KSL junker find into a great new dresser/changing table for our baby boy.  Jordon couldn't believe that I made it, but after a day and a half at the Boyer's house, and two trips to Lowes, I made it.  I plan to stain it next week, it is going to be awesome!  I am so thrilled with my end product I could almost jump for joy.  I sure love that nail gun that the Petersen's got us last year for Christmas.  If I knew that I would enjoy it as much as I did with this project I would have been using it all year.  Work has been a bit slow, but nurse residency started this week.  We sit in class all day and learn about Primary Children's.  At least they fed us breakfast this week.  My official nursing license came this week as well, which means I am a officially an RN.  Jordon had a few busy days at work, but then got to go down to Lake Powell with his fire buddies and enjoy some "guy time".  I am glad that he got to go and have a few days of fun away from me, although I sure missed him.  Saturday was spent crafting as Jordon worked on his painting and I worked on my quilt.  Then Saturday evening, we went over to the Petersen's for dinner and pumpkin pickin'.  They have a neighbor who grows pumpkins in his field, and then sells them (super cheap might I add) out of his front yard.  He always has the best pick and such a variety.  I got me a cute little round one so I can start putting up my Halloween decorations.  Jordon and I helped Reece pick out about seven for her family and after we paid she said, "Now Jordy, take them to the car!"  Jordon then helped Reece carve two of them.  It never ceases to amaze me every year how talented my husband is with pumpkin carving.  I almost want him to carve a billion so I can showcase them on my front porch for the whole neighborhood to see.  He said that the two he did with Reece was amateur work, but I still think they are adorable.  Hopefully we will get to carve some more next week!
